The Surgical Tech / Perioperative SpecialtyTech inspects, assembles and evaluates all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization, completeness of set, and to determine need for repair/replacement.
•Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to established protocols.
•Inspects instruments, equipment and containers to assure cleanliness and proper functioning.
•Corrects instrument sets according to current standards and established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
•Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
•Scrubs and assists in three of the most acute services performed.
•Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies
•Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.|
•Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instruments counts throughout procedures
•Required Credential(s):◦Current Sterile Processing Technician certification preferred.
•Preferred Credential(s):◦Current certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
•High School or Equivalent required
•Graduate of a Surgical Technology program required
•Successful completion of a hospital
•Surgical Technology training program with two years of experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements and One year of scrub experience required.
